What I do like about this story: Humans by nature are not perfect creature, they made mistake and deserve another chance to repent and start all over. That is just discrimination. What ever happens to the quote, 'Happiness is a cup of coffee and a good book'.

Thanks Sarnoff for making my day: View all 10 comments. Feb 05, Lisa the Librarian rated it it was ok Shelves: The concept of this book was very intriguing. Of course you wouldn't necessarily expect the "Evil Queen" to be a like-able protagonist. Seeing some of the story from her point of view was a bit interesting.

One thing that really felt "off" to me however was that the attitudes, vernacular and surroundings were too much in the modern world, which to me is not conducive to the life of the evil queen unless, of course there is an explanation within the world of the story and really threw me off. I The concept of this book was very intriguing. I'd suggesting skipping this book and watching the first season of Once Upon a Time instead. I'd not give it to my teens either Nov 24, Andrea Stoeckel rated it it was amazing. This book is so much fun!

This genre is not new. I've seen it come a few ttimes in my lifetime but this time I'm enjoying it! These reworked fairy tale characters are interacting with real life.. I'm about halfway through the sequel as I write this and will review when I am done. The Evil Queen was tried for the attempted murder of Sbow White. She is then sent to rehab and a probationary job that leads to even more twists and turns in a fast paced fun read.

I will This book is so much fun! I will not post spoilers, but even if you didn't like Gregory Macquire, this one you will like. Jan 25, Sheryl rated it it was ok. I started off really enjoying this. It was rather hilarious reading about Snow White from the evil stepmothers point of view. It got a little long and there were a few questionable parts like Pinocchio being gay which brought it down from 3 stars. It was enjoyable though and actually had a message about life that was good.. This book is just so much fun!

After she was caught and sent to prison for attempting to kill her stepdaughter, Jane Yvel is sent to rehab for addiction to evil and beauty. You get to meet other fairytale characters there and see what has made them evil. The author has a wonderful imagination when it comes to the characters and the story. I laughed and cried through the entire book. There are some plot twists that I never saw coming.

And the e This book is just so much fun! Feb 22, Charla rated it really liked it. I certainly enjoyed parts of this story and it was definitely not what I was expecting. While I went into this book thinking it was going to be dark and "Evil" it was surprisingly kind and trans-formative. The Evil Queen goes to rehab and transforms her life in search of that elusive happily ever after.

The writing style in the middle became a bit crude and out of character seriously there are other ways to describe large breasts other than cannonballs but I was intrigued enough to finish and I certainly enjoyed parts of this story and it was definitely not what I was expecting. The writing style in the middle became a bit crude and out of character seriously there are other ways to describe large breasts other than cannonballs but I was intrigued enough to finish and I'm glad I did as the ending was as richly developed and well written as the beginning.

Aug 04, Dawn Myers rated it liked it. When I started this book, I was oh crap I won't be able to do this. Luck for me I stuck with it, it got much better after a few chapters. Sarnoff wrote from the point of view of the evil queen, which some things were pretty funny, in my opinion. This book was full of some very dark subjects, which you would not associate with a fairy tale. I enjoyed this book and will read book 2, but not sure I can recommend it. It moved a little slow and somethings were a little too drawn out for me. Apr 29, Eating Between rated it it was amazing.

I thought that the author was able to take a well known world of fairy tales and put her own unique and original twist on it! She is able to weave all our favorite villains that we all love to hate in to a world of redemption. She to humanize them all the while keeping the magic alive with in the pages of this book. This book was such a unique and creative take on the fairytale world.

Great writing, with just a few grammatical errors. Highly recommend this book! Can't wait to read the next one and hopefully, more in this genre. Fun read I enjoyed this twist on well known fairy tales. There was one scene that detracted from the fun, unnecessary and not in character with the rest of the book, but overall, it was a wonderful afternoon read and had a message that it is never too late for redemption.

Oct 28, Aviar Savijon rated it it was amazing Shelves: Nov 09, RaChelle Holmberg rated it it was amazing. First, let me say, I'm a fan. I enjoyed every word of this book. It was swoon-worthy, laugh-worthy, as a certain author manages in some other books and just an all around fun trip. I have a new word! And a sequel to read ;-. Heartwarming This is such an amazing tale with a great lesson. I absolutely loved this book. So many unexpected little twists, and how all of the characters were interrelated made it so much fun to read.

We all know the fairytale recounting of the Evil Queen but what if evil could be rehabilitated? This hilarious story shows us that evil can be stopped! Jul 01, Cynthia rated it it was amazing. Sep 27, Jasmyne rated it liked it. The Evil Queen of Snow White gets a shot at a new life after she's admitted to rehab for evil. There are a few familiar faces that she meets along the way, many of which are easily identified from classic Disney movies. Although a fairy tale retelling is always fun, it's even more so with a villain.

Although I did have quite a bit of fun with the read overall, there were a few things that drew me out of the story at times. This is definitely not the same evil stepmother from Snow White - who was The Evil Queen of Snow White gets a shot at a new life after she's admitted to rehab for evil. This is definitely not the same evil stepmother from Snow White - who was quite terrifying - and I believe it would be difficult to reform, regardless of how long she was in a program.

Jane, however, has a sense of humor and a way of being super dramatic at times. All of which are fine, though it requires forgetting she is supposed to be Queen Grimhilde from the animated video. There were a few typos scattered about the novel that became more numerous toward the end.

This was more easily forgiven in comparison to the other issues I had. There were times in which the scarce descriptions left gaping holes in the probability of what was happening without spoiling anything. It was though the author kind of forgot about the other characters in the area and they were props more than people. I'm still torn about the ending - as happy endings are expected in fairy tales - yet I still find my suspicion of belief stretched to the limit by the last few pages.

Dewitched: The Untold Story of the Evil Queen by E.L. Sarnoff

It felt as though resolution came too easily and all of the pieces fit together in a way that felt too perfect, even for a fairy tale. Despite all of that, I still found myself amused while I read.

Regina Mills - Story Untold

It could have stood to be a bit shorter, likely, but I think in time Sarnoff will be able to get her pacing a little more on point. Lovers of fairy tale retelling or stories from the former villain's point of view are welcome to take a crack at it.

It's no Wicked, but is a quick and amusing read nonetheless. Feb 11, Chelsea Johnson rated it liked it Shelves: Thinking she's being sent to a spa tat will enable her to restore her beauty and recapture her title, Fairest of All , Jane Yvel instead finds herself at Faraway, a rehab center that caters to fairy-talelanders addicted to evil. Upon confronting her love-hate relationship with her "Look in a mirror and one thing's sure; what we see is not who we are. Jane finds herself irresistibly drawn to Marcella's dashing fiance, Prince Gallant, and his exquisite seven-year old daughter, Calla Rose.

Will the Evil Queen who had no heart end up with a heart that's broken? This was a cute, fun read! It was kind of intriguing and interesting to see some the Snow White tale from the Evil Queen's point of view. I also really liked the fact that it gave a second chance to Jane and allowed her to come to the realization that she didn't have to hear that she was "fairest of all" every day as long as she knew it.

It showed that everyone can make mistakes yes, some are worse than others but they can also learn from those mistakes if they're willing to admit they actually made said mistakes. I will admit that Jane's backstory was a little dark and saddening, but it did shed a little light on how she kind of became who she was.

It was cool to see all the connections to other fairy tales. There were some interesting relationships between all of them, but they were still great. I also liked getting to see what the characters were doing after getting out of Faraway. Marcella was such an interesting boss, that's for sure.

There was something off about her from the beginning and even though she was the Princess-In-Waiting and was clearly supposed to be an antagonist, there was still more that felt off. Of course when things were revealed, things made a little more sense.

However, I did have a couple issues. Even though I did like all of the characters and the relationships that came from them, I did feel like all the fairy tales were really mixed together too much too fast. There were also a bunch of grammatical errors throughout the story. And Jane's vernacular was really modern for the story. It kind of gave me an Ella Enchanted the movie vibe. At the same time, before that was kind of explained it was honestly distracting. Aug 31, Emily rated it really liked it Shelves: After serving some of her time, Jane Yvel, also know as the Evil Queen has someone take pity on her and instead of staying the dungeon she is sent to Faraway.

Jane thinks she is being sent to a spa, but what Faraway turns out to be is Evil Rehab for fairy tale characters. Jane works through her issues, makes friends, and actually starts to care about others so she is sent back into the world. Her biggest fear after rehab is facing Snow White and pain that she caused her. But, that pain may cost Jane more than she ever realized, but there could be other influences at play that Jane has been suppressing for years.

There are some spoilers in the review, so if you don't want any spoilers be warned, but I shall try to keep them vague as to not give away the whole plot. One of my favorite lines from Wicked the musical, but I love the novel too. Or do they have Wickedness thrust upon them? They just need redirection to learn or be shown something new and different and then they can be the person they are meant to be or can at least now be a contributing part of society.

So, Faraway shows them another way to look at things and contribute to society. Bring out the best part of the characters and helping them be who they should be? Or changing their fate? I think the characters all have to learn something much like many of us all have to learn something and how our past effects or changes us. With that I will leave you with the rest of the wicked quote "After all, she had a father.

She had a mother, as so many do This was an enjoyable read for me. I would give it 4 stars. I feel like the plot have a creative way to deal with complicated issues that many people deal with. While it also keeps the plot moving and light hearted and as an enjoyable read. I look forward to more from Sarnoff and hearing more again Jane and I think Sarnoff has given us an interesting ways to consider fairy tales.

This review is part of chick lit plus blog tours. I was provided a copy of the book for review, but the summary and thoughts on the book are mine. Mar 15, Tea rated it it was amazing. I liked the concept and the storyline was intriguing. There were parts that were pretty obvious but there were some that were surprising and I liked guessing which characters were were throughout. I would have been interested to find out how Prince Gallant would have reacted if he would have found out about the love potion prior to the transformation at the ball.

Or if he knew who Jane was prior to the who ball confession. By the way 4. By the way, did no one else in attendance see this entire episode happening at the ball???? I've read quite a few "evil character side of the story" books and not all are even remotely interesting.

Some are horribly written and veer far off from the original.
